1982 · The Vision

A Vision Born in Jamaica

After the 61st Grand Conclave in Miami, FL, Brothers Larry Walls and Jess Willard traveled to Jamaica to reflect on the Fraternity's future. It was there they envisioned a graduate chapter rooted in Inglewood, California, one that would become a crown jewel of Omega Psi Phi.

Phi Beta Beta is Chartered

Despite early resistance, Brothers Walls and Willard, joined by twenty-four like-minded men, persevered until Phi Beta Beta Graduate Chapter officially received its charter, based in the City of Inglewood, California.

Decades of Community Impact

Phi Beta Beta has served Inglewood and surrounding communities through education, mentorship, and civic engagement, partnering with the Institute of Black Parenting, launching the Omega/Excel program, awarding STEM and Arts scholarships at Morningside and Inglewood High Schools, and hosting voter registration drives, blood drives, and community events for over 40 years.

First West of the Mississippi

At the 69th Grand Conclave in Los Angeles, Phi Beta Beta became the first graduate chapter west of the Mississippi River to be named International Graduate Chapter of the Year.
